The MDIG OA Convention was held yesterday. A more complete report will be coming your way soon. But to sum it up, this was our most successful convention in years! More than 100 people attended the event, held in Miami Lakes, including many people from the southern part of Miami-Dade County. For the first time, we had a Spanish-language program, which was well-attended. The boutique was, as one person put it, “like Macy’s” and Leslie and her husband not only collected fantastic boutique items, Leslie personally washed and ironed the clothing. Teresita and Lucy did a superlative job with the program, and the speakers included an inspiring woman who lost more than 200 lbs. as well as very funny speakers from the Keys. Azikwe did a perfect job of registration and Helen put together a great selection of raffle items. Not only was the convention the best in terms of attendance in many years, it was one of the best financial successes of all time. The only complaint was the lunch provided by the hotel, but OA members survived. Andrea and Leslie deserve our thanks and kudos, along with all the committee chairs, for doing an amazing job this year!
